June 2008

June has proved to be just as busy of a month as May. Although School was technically done on the 5th, things did not slow down much.

We had a little fun sucking on lemons to see who could make the funniest face! Genevieve's face had me in hysterics because it was so prolonged! And probably because she was the unsuspecting victim of the lemon!
Adina was awarded the Citizenship Award at school! Quite an honor as only 4 kids a year are given it from each class. Basically it was an award for being a well rounded citizen. She was so proud of her self as were we all!

Her Principal Mrs. Walker presented her with the award. This is her 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Mistarz (took us about 6 weeks to say that right).
Adina played Instructional Softball for the very first time. She never even played t-ball before. We gave Soccer a try a couple years ago and she quickly came to the conclusion that she couldn't believe people would actually run like that for fun!!! So, we gave Softball a try and she did great! She has a lot of natural talent and kept up very well, especially since she played with some girls going into 4th grade that had played for 3 years! She was catcher a couple of games and my favorite picture is this one where she looked over and Donovan gave her a thumbs up. I happened to click the picture at the same time. There are more pictures on the side in a slide show!
We had VBS at the beginning of June as well! My friend Barb and I did the decorating. It was a lot of fun and we even got some help from our girls when they were feeling cooperative. The theme was SonHarvest (farming). On the last day we had a lady from furry friends come with all sorts of animals for the kids to pet. Check out all the cool pics in the slideshow at right.

Adina also got a fun gift during the week from her good friend Annnaliece! Check out Michael and Daniel as they model for us.

One day Adina and Madison asked if they could play in the puddles outside. I said sure, sounds like fun! Boy did I learn my lesson! Guess I should have asked what kind of puddles!

My sister, Jesse and her wonderful boyfriend Brad (yes, your "OK" Brad) came to visit this month too! Which was especially special! We hadn't seen them since last August and Jesse leaves for Boot Camp for the Army Reserves in 14 days!! So, we enjoyed our time with them. You can thank Jesse for all these posts. She wanted updated pictures before she left! They had a lot of fun playing with the girls - hide and seek, bike riding, playing softball, playing Wii fit and even helping pick out Donovan's fathers day gift! Come back soon guys!

Madison, Genevieve and I went to Burger King with our friends Becky, Jennifer and their boys one day. Mostly for the play equipment than for the food. Anyhow, Becky decided Genevieve should go down the slide so she climbed all the way up to the top with her. If you turn up the sound on this video, you can hear Michael in hysterics because he does NOT want Becky to go down the slide! He is certain she will get stuck! And of course Becky, being Becky, laughs and laughs.

She obviously came down the other way to save Michael any more scares, look how relieved he is to see his mommy down safe and sound!

And of course they biggest excitement for us was Genevieve's 1st Birthday!! She was terribly sick, unfortunately, she had been running a fever so we pumped her full of Motrin and got her down for a nap. As soon as she woke up we had a quick party for her. She did really well with cake and seemed to enjoy the attention! We ended up having a nice time it was us and Marsha (Donovan's mom). The girls did the Limbo, played peek-a-boo with Genevieve and Charades. Genevieve even got on the floor and was trying to copy them! All the pictures we took are in the slide show to the right.

Keep taking pictures! I expect to see how they, and you, do for the next 6 1/2 months.

I was wondering why you let them play out in that "puddle"...

Poor thing - so sick on her b-day! And JESSE!!! Oh my gosh - I totally remember her as a little girl. Amazing to see her after all these years. The puddle pics are great... I have a picture of myself and a neighbor boy that looks like that!

Wow! Great pics! I feel caught up with you now. Love the puddle pics also... now you get a taste of what it'd be like to have boys. In boys land, you always assume its the mud puddles and are relieved when its not. :)
